As always, we were at Go Media Stadium for the match between Auckland FC and Western Sydney Wanderers and in a tough match, it ended in a 1-1 draw.

This draw extended the unbeaten streak of Auckland to 11 matches AND an unbeaten streak of 8 matches for Western Sydney Wanderers. Note, Auckland FC has now drawn 4 of their last 5 matches. That is a lot of points to drop but we are still top of the league.

Putting a dampener on the game was the violence from the Away fans section with them throwing bottles and other items into were the Auckland FC fans were (mostly families in that section). Of course, things got out of hand and at one point one of the WSW fans had to be taken to Middlemore Hospital due to a fractured jaw. We saw many with their face partly covered as one with one of the most “excited” with his entire head covered in a type of red stocking. (Let Santa’s wife know in case she’s missing one). The WSW fans are known for being the rowdiest and most aggressive supporters with their social media photos having their faces blurred. (Do you have something to hide?)

Auckland FC vs. Western Sydney Wanderers Goals

Final Score: 1-1

The Auckland FC Goal was:

⚽️ 45′ Felipe Gallegos

This was the Chilean’s first goal of the season for Auckland FC they came from a wrong pass by the WSW goalie.

Max Mata almost scored the goal of the season with a bicycle kick that was stopped by an amazing save by Lawrence Thomas before the first half ended. There were many missed goal chances by Auckland FC in the second half with Guillermo May launching the ball over the crossbar from close range and after a brilliant nutmeg by Felipe Gallegos passing to Hiroki Sakai in the middle where he kicked the ball directly at the goalkeeper in the 92 minute.

Unfortunately, I didn’t record the Gallegos goal hence the misses compilation.

The Central Coast Mariners Goals were:

⚽️ 51′ Nicolas Milanović (His 11th goal of the season)

It also worth nothing that in the first half there was a disallowed goal. Initially it was given but after a VAR review, it was disallowed.
