We were at Manurewa War Memorial Park on Easter Monday for the game between Manurewa AFC and the Auckland FC Reserves team. It was played on the pitch that was furtherest from the grandstand due to the No.1 pitch being worked on (from what I overheard). This may have also been a reason why this game was not streamed live on the FIFA+ website as they normally are due to no reliable internet connectivity close to the clubrooms. I did see a tower with a camera on top like at other matches so maybe it was just recorded for later even though it wasn’t live. We will see.
Neither of the teams had won a match this season before this game and finally Auckland FC Reserves took their first three points after winning 0-4 as visitors. The first half was tight and ended in a 0-0 draw. Auckland FC Reserves came out with an attacking mentality in the second half which lead to FOUR goals.

Random thoughts that you didn’t ask for
There was an Easter egg hunt for kids before the game which was a nice touch. Apparently being over 50 is too old! 😉
I would like to give a HUGE shout-out to the Manurewa dad (unfortunately I didn’t get his name) with his positive energy encouraging the young kids to line up and clap the referees, coaches, physios, Auckland FC players and Manurewa players as they came on and off the pitch, even at half time.
Some of these young players MAY eventually make the main Auckland FC squad once they get more experience. It will be interesting to see what happens to these young players in the future. This is them BEFORE they become household names.
